Learning and Fun for Children
As summer vacation rapidly approaches, teachers and students eagerly await the “hazy, lazy
days of summer”. However, did you know the average student forgets nearly 60% of the math
and reading skills learned during the school year?
Partnership for Learning’s website has some great ideas for parents to review math, reading, and
science skills with their children in fun and exciting ways. Included on the website: Ideas for
activities parents can do with their children, such as visiting the library, planting a garden, writing
a family newsletter, etc. all focusing on keeping children’s skills sharp. They have links to many
articles and websites pertaining to summer fun and learning for families.
This site would be great for educators to pass along to parents before summer vacation begins.
