SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

As we close out December and calendar year 2022, our community can be very proud of our students and staff. Thank you to Nifty Notes, our band and choir programs, as well as to an elementary reverse caroling event that helped to make the holiday season more festive. These events open to the community help make life more vibrant for our school community.

Best wishes for a time of enjoying family, friends, and rest as we prepare to ring in the new year of 2023.
Great Schools. Great Community. Tri-Creek Proud!

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

The Lowell High School assistant team leaders recently sponsored a “Red Devils Give Back” community project by teaming up with the St. Edward’s Community Angel Tree Project. Out of the $8,721.11 raised, $6,700 went towards the purchase of gifts for 51 children and teens from Lowell with the remaining funds providing food and gas gift cards to families in great need. More information about the project can be found here

SCHOOL TOWN HALL MEETING

DATE:              Thursday, January 5, 2023
TIME:               7:00 p.m.
LOCATION:     Lowell Middle School Cafeteria
TOPIC:            Possible Lowell Intermediate Center for 2024-2025

On the table for discussion is the concept of a teaching and learning center exclusive to grades five and six, designed to be an intermediate center separate from a grades seven and eight middle school. Not only is this concept a proven, positive structure for kids and teachers in several other communities, but it is also a possible option for Tri-Creek as a response to increasing enrollment, embracing a different approach this this specific age of student, is more fiscally-responsible, and also helps to pave the way to possible preschool in the Lowell community. This endeavor would entail reconfiguring the current Lowell Middle School campus to house two separate schools under one roof. The purpose of this school town hall meeting is to sort through the various layers of details, considerations, and to obtain feedback from the community on this particular topic.

TRI-CREEK STUDENTS CELEBRATE CSEDWEEK

Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is recognized annually from December 5 through 11.  CSEdWeek recognizes the achievements of students in computer science, raises awareness of career opportunities in the computer science industry, and encourages all students to take part in computer science activities.  For the first time students in all Tri-Creek schools took part in CSEdWeek activities.

  • Lowell High School students in the Topics in Computer Science course explored the history and psychology of games in order to create their own video games in Unreal Engine 5, the same technology major video game developers use to make professional games. Students in Advisory courses took part in a programming activity where they used coding to create the beats and instruments in a musical performance.

  • Lowell Middle School students in 6th Grade practiced programming through Code.org.  7th Grade students in our Project Lead The Way Innovators and Makers course combined computer code with LED lighting with their choice of interactive art, an object dispenser, or making wearable safety equipment.  8th Grade students built projects utilizing the Python programming language.

  • Students in our elementary STEM courses participated in a variety of activities like the Tynker Coding Cup, Code.org coding challenges, programming robots, learning algorithms and binary code, the building blocks of computer languages.

CELEBRATING OUR OUTGOING BOARD OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES

At the December 8, 2022 Tri-Creek School Corporation Board of School Trustees Meeting we honored three of our outgoing Board Members for their years of service to the students, staff and community of Tri-Creek.
