AP & Dual Credit Information

What is AP?

The AP program is created by the College Board and is a nationally recognized program that allows students to take college-level courses and exams and to earn college credit or placement while still in high school. College credit can be awarded to students based on a score attained on the AP exam.

What is Dual College Credit?

Dual College Credit courses are courses that are taken by high school students and can satisfy requirement for earning BOTH high school and college credit. Dual college credit can be completed at the high school by an LHS faculty member at no cost or on a college campus.

Credit is awarded when the student passes the course and meets the pre-requisites determined by the College. Normally to be awarded the college credit a student must earn a C or better in the course as well as many of the courses have testing pre-requisites attached to them that require a student to perform a certain scores on either the Accuplacer, PSAT, SAT or ACT.

Students experience college curriculum while still having support in high school.
Research supports the idea that students who perform well in college classes while still in high school are more likely to succeed in college than those who don't.

Early College Scholarship

Interested in having your Dual College Credits, AP Tests or Work Certifications paid for? Apply for the Tri-Creek Education's Early College Scholarship. The Early College Scholarship provides funds for current LHS students (up to $500) for dual credit, work certification or AP test fees. Applications are rolled out twice a year for the Fall and Spring Semester. Check back for more information
